My Favorite Gluten-Free Products

This blog topic was born because I was chatting with a couple girlfriends this weekend about how they wish they had a list of good gluten-free products on hand. I agree that it can be like searching for a needle in a haystack when it comes to choosing a GOOD gluten-free product, especially when you’re new to the gluten-free lifestyle. So I went ahead and created a list of my own personal favorite gluten-free products and brands, in hopes that it can be useful to some of you!

PASTAS:

  • Tinkyada brown rice pasta
  • Trader Joe’s brown rice pasta
  • Jovial
  • BANZA chickpea pasta
  • Trader Joe’s quinoa & brown rice pasta
  • Barilla gluten free pasta – not great nutrition-wise but the best option for COLD pasta dishes like pasta salads

BREADS/BAGELS:

First, I HIGHLY recommend finding a local gluten-free bakery and getting your breads there (and freezing if you don’t plan on using asap, because they mold quickly). Pre-packaged gluten free breads can be dry and crumbly, and don’t do very well unless you toast them. That being said, these are, in my opinion, your best options for pre-packaged breads:

  • Canyon Bakehouse for both bread and bagels
  • Udi’s
  • Rudi’s
  • Trader Joe’s gluten free bagels

CRACKERS:

  • Glutino Table Crackers
  • Van’s
  • Mary’s Gone Crackers
  • 365 (Whole Foods Brand) gluten free crackers – the vegan cheddar flavor are TO DIE FOR
  • Simple Mills

MUFFINS:

  • Udi’s Blueberry Muffins (also dairy-free)
  • Flax 4 Life chocolate brownie or chocolate coconut brownie mini muffins (also diary-free)
  • Flax 4 Life full-size muffins
  • Soozy’s grain free frozen muffins

WAFFLES:

  • Kashi Gluten-Free Cinnamon
  • Van’s Gluten-Free Multigrain
  • Nature’s Path Organic (not soy-free)

GRANOLA BARS:

Disclaimer: Nature’s Valley granola bars are NOT gluten-free! I’ve had several clients ask me about this brand specifically, which is why I’m including this. When a product lists “oats” as an ingredient, you have to assume that unless they specify that the oats are gluten-free, they are NOT. Oats are naturally gluten-free, but they are typically contaminated with wheat, barley and rye in processing facilities unless purposely separated.

  • KIND bars
  • Larabars! All-time favorite. Larabars are always dairy-free as well and have very limited ingredients (always a plus!)
  • Bobo’s Oat Bars
  • Rx bars (now with a plant-based option!)
  • GoMacro bars

GRANOLA/CEREAL:

  • KIND granola
  • Purely Elizabeth granola
  • Cheerios!
  • Trader Joe’s old fashioned gluten-free oats
  • Trader Joe’s ancient grain oatmeal packets
  • Trader Joe’s grain free granola
  • Three Wishes
  • certain Cascadian Farm varieties

BAKING MIXES/FLOURS:

  • Bob’s Red Mill, hands down. Baking mixes and flours, both. Also, probably the most widely available (every store I know of carries Bob’s Red Mill)
  • King Arthur Gluten-Free Baking Mix
  • Pamela’s (NOT always dairy-free)
  • Trader Joe’s flours and baking mixes. TJ’s will often carry seasonal gluten-free baking mixes too, like their pumpkin bread GF mix (soooo tasty). You can also dump some of their GF old fashioned oats into a food processor to make oat flour if you don’t have any GF flour on hand

I apologize for not listing any cookies, but I don’t personally buy those things so I didn’t feel like that was an informed list I could have made. If you have suggestions, please feel free to let me know!
